Round Table Cloth.

Quote of the Day:

For a good time and lots of treats call 1-800-grandma

60 Inch Round Table Cloth

I have looked everywhere for a table cloth to fit the round table we have in our kitchen in the right color. They were either too long, too short, not the right material, or more than I wanted to pay. I think it's unbelievable what the cost of table cloths are. So I bought 60 inches of 60 inch wide material in the color that I needed. I folded it in quarter and used a rope and pencil to draw the line that I needed to cut to make it round. It came out great. I used biased tape to finish the edges and I'm waiting on lace that I had to order in green. I couldn't find that either. Thank you for letting me share.

Cute T-shirt or onesie ideas.

Quote of the Day:
Few things are more delightful than grandchildren fighting over your lap.
 Author: Doug Larson

Our daughter is having another child in December. We are so very excited. I have made another embroidered shirt for Luke to wear announcing the new baby. This is just so cute. If you own a embroidery machine, you can buy a lot of embroidery designs like this on Etsy. Etsy.Com

I have, however purchased my own digitizing software. This is what you need to make your own designs. The one that I use is Sew Art 64. It is not that expensive and I didn't want to put a lot of money in something until I decided that I liked it and could actually use it. My neice is also pregnant and also due in December. She got this little onesie.

This one I designed myself using my software. I have to say, the saying is not original. These types of things can be found all over the internet. All I had to do was create the software saying this that I could use on my machine with the digitizing program. I'm having a whole new kind of fun, now.

Footed Baby Pants - free pattern

Quote of the Day:

Elephants and grandchildren never forget.

 Author: Andy Rooney

Footed Pants
This is a pair of footed pants for infants 0 to 10 pounds. I got free pattern from the blog Sew Much Ado. Sew Much Ado Just click on the link.

You can download the free pattern, then you have to tape the parts together to create the pattern. I added the bow and it is not attached. My daughter is having a baby and as soon as I know what she's having, it will have the appropriate decoration. I may have to enlarge the pattern a bit. This is a very small pair of pants, in my opinion but it was very easy to make.

My blouse

Quote of the Day:

Do you know why children are so full of energy? Because they suck it out of their grandparents

 Author: Gene Perret

I took time out and made something for me again. This is just a blouse that has a yoke that is hard to see in this picture. I also embroidered a design on the left side. I love it and the way it fits. I don't make something for myself very often as I have so many grandkids I love to make for. And the family just keeps growing. I will be a grandmother again in December. The exciting thing is that my daughter and my neice are both pregnant. My neice is due December 15th and my daughter December 18th. We always seem to have babies in pairs, but they have never been this close together before. Thank you for letting me share.

A New Baby to Sew For.

Quote of the Day:

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. - Proverbs 31:30

 Author: Bible

I now have a new baby that I get to start sewing for. Odds are not in favor of this one being a girl. There are not a whole lot of girl babies born in to this family. That's ok. I'm really excited about this baby no matter its gender. I'll just pray for a girl. This picture is what my daughter did to get her message to us from Germany. If the next baby looks anything like Luke "she'll" be beautiful, or he'll be handsome. I can start making a layette and give one of those generic colors like yellow, green, or lavender.

Graduation Hat Treats

Quote of the Day:

By the time you're eighty years old you've learned everything. You only have to remember it

Graduation Hat Treats

24 miniature peanut butter cups
1 tube (6 ounces) decorating frosting in color of your choice
24 After Eight thin mints
24 milk chocolate M&M's in color of your choice or 24 semisweet chocolate chips

Local graduation ceremonies are coming up soon. I thought these would be a cute idea if you have a graduating student. My daughter-in-law's mother is planning on this for her son that is graduating from high school. Enjoy.

First Year Quilt

Quote of the Day:

Blessed be the ties that bind generations

 Author: Unknown

First Year Quilt
My daughter took monthly pictures of our grandson such as the first picture shown. Every picture from 1 month to 11 months was in the same outfit and "toys". I made all of those pictures black and white and I found a type of "material" that I could run through my printer and print them.

I did cheat somewhat. I bought pre-quilted material to use. This is 2 yards X 60 inches. I used green double-wide quilting biased tape to finish the edges of the pictures and the quilt. What is not very obvious in the picture is that at the top I machine embroidered "Luke's First Year" on black material and added it to the top. Each word of that phrase was on it's own black material. I also to a newborn picture of him and the picture she had down by a photographer for his 1 year photo and added those in to make it a total of 13 pictures.

Taking monthly pictures to see the way the baby grows is a great idea. We missed doing it with our first grandchild, but we've done it with everyone since.
