Homemade Jewelry Cleaner

Quote of the Day:

Between the earth and sky above, nothing can match a grandmother's love.

I tried this recipe to clean my jewelry and I think it cleaned my rings and necklace up pretty good. I found this on Pinterest.

Cute Halloween Marsh-Monsters

Quote of the Day:

Being grandparents sufficiently removes us from the responsibilities so that we can be friends.

There are several cute ideas to make "monsters" with marshmellows. You will have to go to the link to see them all.
Just click on the link below and it will take you to the site to see how it's done. I couldn't find any directions in text. You'll love it.

I have now reopened my Etsy Store. I have not completely stocked it yet, but please take a look. Right now it's geared toward babies and toddlers. I plan to add other things as well.

Free Downloadable patterns and how to use them

Quote of the Day:

Being a grandmother is our last chance to act like a kid without being
accused of being in our second childhood.

Free Downloadable Patterns and How they work.

I may be kind of dense but it took me a while to figure this out. I love the free patterns and I use them quite often. To find those all you have to do is just google free patterns and they come up. If you're on Pinterest, you can find them there also. What you have to do is line up all the pages in a certain order that is actually provided on the instructions. You may need a good place to spread out to do this. I use my island in my kitchen. The pattern shown is quite large because it a pattern for myself. The most of the free patterns that I have like this is for making baby/toddler clothing and doesn't use up so much paper.

All you have to do is match up the various notches as shown here and tape it all together.

This last picture is of the pattern completely taped together. Then I cut it out like a normal pattern and cut my material.

This particular pattern is 67 pages long. This is a lot of pages to print out. So I only print the pages that I need to make the pattern. I also print a picture of what I am making and store all of this in one of those 3 ring binder pages that will hold multiple papers. When I want to make the item, I bring the instructions up on the computer rather than printing them. This way I can save some paper.

What if my computer crashes, you say? I also keep my patterns on a thumb drive and an external hard drive. So I have them backed up 2 times. In fact I haven't backed up in a few orders. So I'll do that here shortly.

DIY Mason Jar Decor

Quote of the Day:

Becoming a grandmother is wonderful. One moment you're just a mother. The next you are all-wise and prehistoric.

 Author: Pam Brown

I found this idea on Pinterest and it took me to the link above. There are some really great ideas on there. But I loved this idea with mason jars. So we gave it a try. My husband helped me.

My husband cut the boards from some left over deck boarding that we had and put the thing on the back to hang the finished product with. He also screwed in the hose clamps that would hold the jar.

After that I took over. I bought flowers and blue rock decorations. I plan to put them in our bedroom which is blue. With everything ready I just began to fill the jars the way I wanted them. I used wire cutters to take only the flowers that I wanted and the length that I wanted.

The wallet is only there to support the jar so I could see what it looked like as I worked. I love the finished product. My husband did use mollies to hang them because the stones make it a little heavier than wise to use a regular nail.

We bought the Amazing Grace wall hanging. It is my favorite hymn and got me through a rough time.
