Dress Up Doll Blanket

Quote of the Day:

Few things are more delightful than grandchildren fighting over your lap.

Dress Up Doll Blanket

I started with 2 yards of pre-quilted material. I finished the edges with quillting bias tape, double fold. I used poster board to draw my doll template. I cut out the doll shape from felt.

The doll was permanently attached to the blanket. So was the hair and eyes. The mouth is just black yarn and I used a darning needle to sew the mouth.

Then I started to make it's clothes. The night gown is made from left over material that I have. I attached felt to the back so that it would stick to the doll. I did this with all the outfits I made.

I considered Velcro, but when I tried it, it pulled on the felt. I was afraid that it would end up pulling the felt apart with too much use. Knowing my granddaughter, that's a strong possibility. I hope she likes this Christmas present. What is not shown here are the bows and shoes I made to match each outfit. The pattern from Pinterest made the shoes permanent. My daughter says that Lily loves shoes. So I made her's interchangeable.

Thank you for letting me share.

Campsite Decoration

Quote of the Day:

Do you know why children are so full of energy? Because they suck it out of their grandparents

Campsite Decoration
When we were camping, we noticed that people that do this on a regular basis would put out little signs saying who they were. So I wanted to do the same thing.
This summer my husband built a deck with railing to go around our pool. We had a lot of the railing boards left that he cut off. I wanted to do something with them.

I started with the left over railing and glued them together. My husband secured them with these clamps. I used E6000 glue. I swear by this stuff. You glue what you need and let it sit for 24 hours.

Once the glue was dry, I had him saw down the edges and sand them to make them smooth. In this picture I just laid out what I would be using to decide what I wanted to do with it.

I ended up spraying it lightly with in this case yellow spray paint and then smoothed it around on the board. I bought the letter D from Michael's craft store. It is also made of wood and came with the blue color. I did paint the number and they represent the year we got married. I thought it looked a little plain, so I added some greenery that I had left over from another project.

It is our intention to put it out when we go camping to identify our camping site. I can't wait to use it.
